Every Catnip enclosure lets your cat experience the outdoors – the birds, the lizards, the possums going about their night shift – without a single animal being harmed. Think of it as cat TV, live and unscripted.
Cats are born hunters. That instinct doesn't vanish indoors – it just has nowhere to go. An enclosure gives them the sights, sounds, and smells they're wired for, while protecting noisy miners, parrots, possums, native rats, blue-tongued lizards, and the small reptiles that call your garden home. It keeps other cats out, too.

"I've had my Catnip for seventeen years now. Still going strong. Never had to replace a thing. It even moved from Toowoomba to Tassie with me."Wendy, TasmaniaMiss Muffet & Tigger · since 2009
"We started with a single panel kit and keep adding bits. Twenty years on, it's basically a cat resort. Three different owners of Catnip have helped us expand it."Jenny, Werribee VICExpanded over 20 years
"Called them up and talked to a real person who actually knew cats. Not a robot. Just a good bloke who answered honestly. That sold me."Ron, Tamworth1 cat · since 2022
"My vet recommended Catnip years ago. Best decision I ever made. They're safer, happier, and I sleep better at night knowing the local birds are too."Janet, Wagga Wagga4 cats · since 2018
Galvanised steel mesh panels with galvanised steel frames. Galvanising is the standard finish – it makes the steel last outdoors (silvery-grey colour). We also offer a powder-coat upgrade: powdered plastic is sprayed over the galvanised steel then heat-cured, lasting a little longer and available in colours to suit your home.
It depends on what you're building. Enclosures: 10–30 minutes for a first-timer. Tunnels: about 10 minutes (top + bottom piece join). Connecting tunnels to an enclosure or exit box: roughly 20 minutes (the longest part). Exit boxes: 10–30 minutes. Hook-on accessories like steps and hammocks: about a minute each.
Ideally yes. If your ground is flat and level, the enclosure sits directly on it. On an angle? You can either level the ground yourself or use Catnip timber surrounds to create a level base.
Absolutely. Catnip enclosures protect native reptiles, birdlife, and small mammals – noisy miners, parrots, possums, native rats, blue-tongued lizards and more. Your cat still gets to watch the wildlife up close (think of it as cat TV), just without any animals being harmed.
The structural warranty covers failure from faulty materials or workmanship for 10 years. Conditions: keep it clean, no plants growing through, only approved parts, and no harsh chemicals. Coastal properties within ~1 km of salt water should rinse with fresh water fortnightly. Does not cover cosmetic ageing, accidental damage, or extreme weather events.
That's the whole idea. Catnip is a modular system – start with one enclosure, add tunnels, exit boxes, and accessories whenever you like. Most of our long-term customers have expanded their setups over years. The panels and clips from every era still connect.
