Product & materials.

What are the enclosures made from?

Galvanised steel mesh panels with galvanised steel frames. Galvanising is the standard finish, it makes the steel last outdoors (a silvery-grey colour). We also offer a powder-coat upgrade: powdered plastic is sprayed over the galvanised steel then heat-cured, lasting a little longer and available in colours to suit your home.

Galvanised or powder-coated, which should I choose?

Galvanised is the durable, no-fuss standard and what most people go with. Choose the powder-coat upgrade if you want a specific colour to match the house, or a little extra longevity in harsh conditions. Both are built to last.

Is it actually escape-proof?

Yes. Structural steel mesh, not flimsy netting, with secure clips throughout. It keeps your cat safely in and keeps other cats, dogs and wildlife out. This is the difference between an enclosure and a bit of netting over a pergola.

Will it rust?

Galvanising is designed to stand up to the weather for the long haul. If you're within about 1 km of salt water, a quick fresh-water rinse every couple of weeks keeps it in top condition (that's also a warranty condition for coastal properties).

Assembly & setup.

How long does it take to set up?

It depends on what you're building. A full enclosure is 10 to 30 minutes for a first-timer. A tunnel is about 10 minutes (top and bottom piece join). Connecting a tunnel to an enclosure or exit box is roughly 20 minutes, the longest part. Exit boxes are 10 to 30 minutes. Hook-on accessories like steps and hammocks take about a minute each.

Do I need any special tools?

No. The fastening pliers you need come in the box, and there's nothing to cut or drill. If you can open the packaging, you can build it. The hardest part is keeping the cat out of the box.

Do I need a flat surface?

Ideally yes. If your ground is flat and level, the enclosure sits directly on it. On an angle? You can either level the ground yourself or use Catnip timber surrounds to create a level base.

Can one person build it?

Most setups are a comfortable one-person job. For the larger backyard builds, a second pair of hands makes holding panels while you clip them a bit easier and quicker.

Delivery & shipping.

Where do you deliver?

Australia-wide, every state and territory, metro to regional. Bondi to Bundaberg to Broome. It arrives flat-pack, ready to assemble.

How much is shipping and how long does it take?

Free on orders over $250. NSW, VIC and metro areas 2 to 4 days. QLD, SA and metro 3 to 5 days. Regional across all states 4 to 7 days at a flat $39. WA, NT and TAS 5 to 9 days at a flat $69.

How does it arrive?

Flat-packed and boxed, with all panels, clips, fixings, the fastening tool and step-by-step instructions inside. Nothing extra to buy or source.

Warranty & care.

What does the 10-year warranty cover?

The structural warranty covers failure from faulty materials or workmanship for 10 years. Conditions: keep it clean, no plants growing through it, only approved parts, and no harsh chemicals. Coastal properties within about 1 km of salt water should rinse with fresh water fortnightly. It does not cover cosmetic ageing, accidental damage, or extreme weather events.

How do I clean and look after it?

A hose-down and a soft brush is plenty for most homes. Avoid harsh chemicals, keep plants from growing through the mesh, and if you're near the coast give it a fresh-water rinse every fortnight. That's it.

Something arrived damaged or faulty. What now?

Give us a call on 1800 639 998 or send a photo through the contact form and we'll sort a replacement part quickly. Because it's modular, we can usually replace a single panel rather than the whole thing.

Ordering & adding on.

Can I add to it later?

That's the whole idea. Catnip is a modular system. Start with one enclosure, add tunnels, exit boxes and accessories whenever you like. Most of our long-term customers have expanded their setups over years.

Will new panels fit my old Catnip?

Yes. The panels and clips from every era still connect. If you bought an enclosure fifteen years ago, today's parts will clip straight on. That's the point of the system.

Do you do custom, installed enclosures?

Catnip ships flat-pack for you to assemble anywhere in the country. If you'd rather have one measured, made and professionally installed, that's our sister company CatWorks. Same mission, done bespoke, available in the areas the team services.

What payment options do you offer?

All major cards, PayPal (including Pay in 4), and Zip at checkout. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.
